This is definitely a position tee shot as the elevated tee features a carry over the native area with fairway bunkers down the left hand side and more native areas right. A 3-wood or long iron with the prevailing wind will leave a short iron into a deep two tiered green. Downtown Abilene can be seen from the tee.
327 yards – Cliffhanger
Don’t let the length of this short par 4 fool you. This hole can definitely be a test. An accurate drive is needed to position yourself in this narrow fairway. After carrying the native area you are faced with bunkers on the left and right sides of the fairway. The green has a false front and no room for error over this elevated green as it drops off severly. Being short is better than long on this hole.

Another scenic elevated tee makes picking a landmark easy down this long dogleg right par 5. A good drive towards the two old oil tanks will leave you an open shot at the green which is guarded in front by a ravine and creek. Laying up with a short to mid iron leaves the player a short iron to a green that is dissected with a ridge and a bunker on the right side.
445 yards – Mesquite Bend
This long bending par four demands a well placed tee shot down the right center of the fairway leaving a long to mid iron into the green guarded by a deep grass bunker short right. Par is a good score.
177 yards – Horseshoe
This signature hole is guarded by water and sandthat wrap around three sides of the green in the shape of a horseshoe. From the slightly elevated tee the green is open in front allowing players the option of rolling the ball onto the green, but anything that is slightly off line will find the bunker or water waiting.

The long straight par 4 plays with the prevailing wind and is protected by a fairway bunker down the right side. Mounds protect errant shots from finding the adjacent driving range on the right, The green is relatively flat and guarded by mounds to the right and behind the green.

The back nine begins with this medium length par 4 that bends slightly to the right. A man made lake down the left side adds to the aesthetics of the course but should rarely come into play. After a good drive a mid to short iron will be needed to reach the deep green that is guarded by a bunker on the left side.

On this unique par three, golfers face a deep pot bunker protecting the middle of a wide shallow green. Errant shots to the right or long will roll down in the native area.

The ridge down the right side of this par 4 runs the length of the hole leaving no room for error to the right. Your drive should be placed down the left side which will leave an open shot to this two tiered green guarded by water on the left. Drives down the right side leave no view of the green and a testy lie.

From the Championship tees Lytle Creek will be crossed three times presenting yet another challenging hole. A tree positioned in the middle of the fairway gives you a target and best positioning off the tee. Once in the fairway you will be tempted to go for the green but laying up is your best bet with a mid-iron, setting up a short-iron into this two tiered green protected by a bunker on the right-hand side. Accuracy is important and shots to the left will find the native area protecting the left side of the green.
431 – Prickly Pear
From the top of this ridge looking back down over the 12th green and the surrounding lake, you will wonder if you are really playing in West Texas. Your drive should be hit down the left center of the fairway as fairway bunkers guard errant shots to the right. A long to mid iron will be required to reach this two tiered green.
208 yards – Snakebit
Playing slightly uphill and into the prevailing wind, this long par three will challenge golfers. The double tier green drops off slightly on the right and shots left will be faced with a difficult up and down to save par.
396 yards – Coyote Crossing
Lytle Creek comes into play off the tee and proceeds to follow the length of the hole down the right side. A forced carry over the creek on your drive leaves a mid to short iron into this rolling green. Accuracy is the key on this par 4, shots drifting right will find the creek and hit left will leave a difficult pitch up the slope to the green.
384 yards – Sidewinder
This par 4 bends slightly to the right as Lytle Creek follows down the right side of the hole. Drives should be hit down the left hand side steering clear of the fairway bunkers. The second shot will require a short iron into this two tiered green guarded by a bunker on the right hand side.
